Nanny cams are just about on every hidden camera web blog and lots of advices of how to use them and where to get one if you were looking to buy one. My main concerned of writing this blog was to explain the Set Up of using a nanny cam in a clear and simple manner. There are many Nanny cams to select from and are installed in everyday common items that you will find around the house. This offer you so many different choices to choose from and one that will fit your character.
The evening news over the past years have shown the advantages of using Nanny cams and have saved the lives of children that would have been damaged for rest of their lives. Nanny cams fall into the hidden and spy camera categories, regardless of the name they are all practically the same thing only differ on the use and name applied to that use, for example spies use spy cams, homeowners will use hidden cam to protect their property, young mothers will use a nanny cam to watch over their babies and young ones. You have all the rights to protect your love ones and whatever is important to you, why settle for what someone said when you can see it for yourself, having said so, spying on people outside of your house is considered very offensive, so by all means if you were to do any outside recording post a note where people will know that your home is under some type of surveillance, now if you were recording inside your home then there is no need to post any note.
To have an effective hidden, spy or a nanny cam you will need to get the following and we will speak of each and where you will placed them. I will list them as:
- A TV or Video Monitor
- A Nanny Cam (any type)
- A VCR or a DVR (any type)
These 3 items will get you started and in less than 5 minuets or less you’ll be watching your camera.
TV:
you can get a TV for less than $100.00 or a Video Monitor for more professional look or for quality picture, the TV or monitor can be placed in an open area as in your bedroom connected to your cable system which means yes you can watch local TV programs and you can switch it to Video to watch your Nanny Camera.
VCR or DVR:
Do not let the names confuse you a VCR is an Analog Recorder and a DVR is a Digital Recorder, a VCR will cost you from $40-60.00 or a DVR Recorder from $400-1,200.00, wondering why the differences on the cost between a VCR and a DVR, at one time a VCR cost about $800-1,500.00. The difference between the two on the use is that a VCR uses a VHS Tape while a DVR uses a hard drive to store images, with the VCR you’ll have to fast forward or rewind to the desired video while a DVR you punch in the time and date to the Video you want to watch and it will start on the time that you set it for. With the VCR you end up collecting tapes and over recording will ruin your tape while the DVR has no tape to worry about and if you decided that the video is old you can erased it by over recording on it without worrying of tape damage.
Nanny Camera:
Your nanny cam should be wireless which will offer you the advantage to use it any where and any time and never having to worry because there is no wire connection. Set it down and you are done.
It is quite normal for your TV and VCR to be together in the same location. The TV will have behind it 3 color jacks (RED, YELLOW, WHITE), they are known as RCA Jacks. With your VCR the back also have these 3 colors, there you will also noticed the word (VIDEO IN and VIDEO OUT). On the VIDEO IN of your VCR you will connect your wireless Camera Receiver and VIDEO OUT will go to your TV RCA (RED, WHITE, YELLOW) jacks. Now your VCR and TV are SET. Next turn the TV and VCR on, and set your TV on auxiliary or VIDEO and have the VCR on channel 3 and you will immediatelysee an image on the TV, move you nanny cam around and look at the picture quality that you have. By moving your camera around you will noticed how different light condition affect your picture quality. Also by doing so you will soon learn what works for you. Remember to always charge your nanny cam batteries, remember you have no wires and the only way it works is through a set of store rechargeable batteries. If you not not need it on then have it off. The battery will last for about 12hours.
Congratulation you have just set up your nanny cam.

Thanks for the tips. They’ll help me out since I was recently asked to set up a one camera cctv system at a small store.
I run a home security service and more and more people have asked me about installing nanny camers. This info was very useful and may have made up my mind for me. Thanks for the post.
